Eben Jones ClassroomJoin Nik Beauchemin for an introduction to the basics of bookbinding! Students in this class will learn how to sew a simple, unlined, soft cover book utilizing basic bookbinding techniques.
There will be a demonstration on how to prepare your book block, instruction on basic sewing techniques, discussion on how to further customize this or future book projects and a list of basic supplies you'll need so you can carry on making more books at home.
Students will walk away from the class with a slim, elegant journal that is the perfect travel size for bags, trails, or anywhere else life may take them!
Sewing or bookbinding experience is not required, and materials will be provided, though there is a $5 material fee. Register in-person at the help desk or online but please pay the supply fee asap (cash or check only; checks should be made out to Nik Beauchemin) and payment dropped off at the library Help Desk) to secure your spot. Spaces are limited.
Historical Paper Marbling, a collection of marbled paper created by Nik, is on view from Wednesday, August 5 through Wednesday, September 30 in the library's Community Art Gallery.
