Join our Literary Book Club at the library, where we dive into award-winning fiction and nonfiction! This welcoming group embraces all genres, making it the perfect place for book lovers to share their passion. We meet on the last Friday of every month at 11am. No registration is required, so feel free to drop in and join the conversation. Whether you’re a seasoned reader or just looking to explore new titles, you’ll find a friendly and engaging community here. Books available at the main desk.
Discover your next favorite read with Books & Banter, the library's new casual, commitment-free evening book club! Each month, we explore a new theme and members get to vote on the book selection from a curated list. Whether you're an avid reader or just looking for a fun way to meet new people and connect over books, we'd love to welcome you!
Additionally, the library has a collection of book bags for your book club! We have over 25 titles and add more every month. Choose a bag for your club and instantly have access to over 10 print copies for your group! We do our best to include a Large Print and/or audio in every Book Bag. Click here to see the list!

Join us for a cookbook club-meets-potluck at Peterborough Town Library! Whether you're a seasoned chef or a kitchen novice, PTL's Dinner Club offers a flavorful space to explore, experiment, and connect with fellow foodies. Every month we try a new cuisine or cooking theme. Share your cooking tips and tricks and indulge in lively discussions that will spice up your culinary adventures.
The Dinner Club gathers on the second Thursday of the month outside the Library on the River Terrace, weather permitting, or in the Eben Jones Classroom. Each month features a new cuisine or cooking theme. Members are invited to make and bring their favorite dish from a cookbook. PTL’s Dinner Club is open to everyone, but registration is required so that we know how many to expect.
Plates, bowls, napkins, basic utensils, sparkling water and green tea are provided. Please bring your own serving ware.
Held the second and fourth Saturday of the month, the Monadnock Handcrafters is an informal drop-in group. Bring your knitting, spinning, and other handwork projects for this low-key get together.
The Monadnock Handcrafters is sponsored by the Peterborough Library. We provide the well-lit space for your community to grow. Tea offered.
The room has tabletops and a sink. We are open to all types of hand-crafts and projects. All ages are welcome. This is intended as a space to craft and learn from eachother and not as an introductory class or place to "learn to knit".
A monthly offering of free yoga at PTL. All levels welcome.
Michelle teaches Vinyasa flow yoga. Her class is accessible for all levels of fitness and yoga experiences. The class coordinates breath and movement to create a feeling of unity within the senses of the participant. The asanas (poses) are woven together to have a smooth transition one to the next. Each movement builds to the next and we finish with savasana (rest period) to allow the time on the mat to integrate. Please come and join us on the mat.
CALLING ALL WRITERS (and curious readers/listeners)! The Peterborough Town Library and Monadnock Underground hosts a free monthly form OPEN MIC for writers of all genres and levels of experience!
Poetry, prose, something you're not even sure what it is - bring it on down! You can sign up as you arrive. In an effort to keep things relaxed, loose, and informal, we try to avoid fixed rules like maximum length; we simply ask that readers be mindful of how many others are signed up to read and that we have a hard stop at 7 pm. Though there is no formal group-critique of any readings, this is a great chance for any writers who ARE interested in feedback to get some audience reactions.
We'll have some coffee, tea, and water on hand, and M/U will have some books AND some veteran writers on hand... perhaps even some reading sneak previews of works in progress!
Be sure to check out Monadnock Underground publications here.
The Friends sponsor a lecture series featuring high quality historical and cultural topics. Check the events calendar for the latest on this series.
PTL also hosts regular exhibit opening receptions, artists talks, lectures, and workshops. Interested in sharing a program with our patrons? Visit the Peterborough Presents page to learn more!
