The 1833 Society

The 1833 Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit group whose mission is to support the Peterborough Town Library.  The organization works on special projects in collaboration with library staff and trustees in support of the Peterborough Town Library goals and objectives.

The 1833 Society raised $5.5 million towards the renovation of the library which reopened in 2021. Learn more about this amazing project and our generous supporters in this booklet.

What does the 1833 Society do?

The 1833 Society works on special projects to support the long-term success of the Peterborough Town Library.  These initiatives focus on increasing the membership level, rebuilding the Library Trust Funds which were utilized by the 2021 building project, and sponsoring special programs beyond the library's operating budget.
