Our neighbor, Andrea Woolverton, believes it can. We drink more coffee than any other country, yet few of us understand how it gets from the jungle mountains to our morning cup.
Andrea, founder of Twin Engine Coffee, will share stories and learning from Nicaragua’s coffee mountains—where she, her family, and the Twin Engine team roasts and packages organic coffee entirely at the source. Discover how choices made here in Peterborough ripple across communities thousands of miles away.
You’ll learn what makes coffees taste different, how coffee practices shape people, communities, and the environment, and why “coffee at the source” is changing the industry. This program is a chance to see coffee in a whole new way—and to learn just how much your daily cup has to teach.
Bring your curiosity and ask Andrea all your burning coffee questions—she is excited to share with you. You might even have the chance to try coffee in a way you never imagined - straight from the fruit itself!
About the Speaker:
Dr. Andrea Woolverton is a farm-kid and Agricultural Economist who founded Twin Engine Coffee in 2013 after serving in the USDA and the United Nations. With her husband, Colin Ganley, she built a model of producing, roasting, and packaging coffee entirely at the source in Nicaragua. Her journey spans the Missouri Bootheel, Italy—where she fell in love with espresso—and Sub-Saharan Africa, where she really began to understand why “made at the source" matters.
Today, Twin Engine’s world-class Nicaraguan coffees reflect Andrea’s passion for quality, sustainability, and connection. Andrea and Colin call both Nicaragua and Peterborough home. Lucille, their daughter, is a 5th grader here at SMS.
