Artist Brandy M Patterson and her musician husband, Chad Patterson will be celebrating her Art Show at PTL with a reception and concert!
Brandy M. Patterson’s show, “The Color of Music” will be on view from April 2nd – May 28th with a reception on April 22nd from 5-7pm.
At the reception on April 22nd, both Patterson and her husband will be on hand to discuss their work, and each of the three songs the paintings are inspired by will be performed live by Chad Patterson.
Patterson’s unique artistic view is influenced by a neurological condition called synesthesia.
Synesthesia is when one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic and involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. Patterson states her synesthesia “translates music and feelings into color” and has used it to her advantage by working in collaboration with her husband, musician Chad Patterson, on the paintings for this show.
On display will be three large paintings and examples of each step in Patterson’s creative process. Each of Patterson’s paintings capture the mood of one of her husband’s songs with their texture, her expressive brush strokes, and her handling of the paint. Each painting will have a QR code so you can scan it and listen to the song that inspired the work on your smartphone while you view the painting in the library.
