Support the Legacy Project

The 1833 Legacy Project invites all citizens, and library supporters, friends and neighbors, grandparents, parents and children to honor, or recognize or memorialize individuals who have made a lasting difference in their lives, by making a gift in their name to The Legacy Project. Thereby, connecting them to our library’s historic legacy.

Perhaps there is a child in your life who loves to read; OR a parent who opened the doors for you to the world of libraries and literature; OR a special friend, teacher or neighbor who is a lover of books and learning?

The donation to The Legacy Project is $250 per name.

Your honoree’s name, your name and a short tribute from you will be permanently entered into the Legacy Project Journal that will be on display in the library. Eventually the journal will become part of the library’s historic collection.  Donors will also be given a notecard with a hand-carved, stamped print of the library on it, to keep or give to the recipient to commemorate this donation.

How the Legacy Project Works:

  • Make a gift: A minimum donation of $250 is required for each honoree.
  • Create a permanent tribute: The honoree’s name, the donor’s name, and a short personal tribute will be entered into The 1833 Legacy Project Journal, which will be on permanent display in the library.
  • Share a meaningful keepsake: Donors will receive a notecard featuring a hand-carved, stamped print of the library to keep or give to their honoree.
  • Choose a convenient payment option: Gifts may be made as a one-time donation or arranged in five $50 installments paid within one year.
  • Celebrate the legacy: Donors and honorees will be invited to the library’s annual donor event, where their participation will be acknowledged.
